Questions about the Keefe diatribe…

i have been quite unwell recently (a stubborn case of pneumonia) but for those interested i would be happy, when I am physically and mentally able, to answer any questions you may wish to ask about the Keefe diatribe (assuming you know what I am talking about!). i do not rule anything out except that which culminates in felon setting. (Message to my American friends: the only thing I can say right now that you should to try to avoid catching pneumonia?) So, send me your questions and as soon as I can, health permitting, I will endeavor to answer.

  2. Hello Ed,

I’m very sorry that you’ve been ill but hope you’ll be fighting fit again soon. I missed whatever PRK comments you referenced so would like a hint about where to read them. He seems to be a man of dubious morals, profiting off your work while twisting the truth to suit his agenda.

Very sorry to hear about your health issues. Pneumonia is a serious deal. I am a long time American reader and admirer of your work. My mother’s family was largely Irish with roots in Mayo and Roscommon. Every generation for almost 150 years has had a son named Robert Emmet. That probably accounts for my deep interest in Irish history including The Troubles. For what it is worth, which isn’t much, I actually think Say Nothing is flawed but overall a very good book. To be sure, it wouldn’t exist without your work plus that of Martin Dillon, Peter Taylor and others. The notes should have been better credited your prior works. But the book does tell an important story and it tells that story pretty well. Keefe made some judgments that are questionable (e.g., the radios). Overall though it tells a part of a very complicated story very well. It isn’t the whole story obviously and doesn’t claim to be. Several comprehensive books cover most of it but there is always room for more. That is why although Martin Dillon covered collusion very well in The Dirty War and elsewhere, there was still room for Anne Cadwallader’s masterful book. Just one reader’s opinion.

  6. Dear Ed, I hope you recover well soon. feel free to look for assistance in Ireland regarding the Keefe diatribe. John Meehan

    • Thanks John; i think the best way to deal with Keefe is to ignore him and then strike hard when he’s not watching – he is one dirty fucker. There’s Mackers praising him, after Keefe more or less shafted him as a drunk…..!!!

  7. Where could we see the Keefe Diatribe?
