Today, had he lived, Ronnie Reagan would have been 103 years old and once again the anniversary of the birth of Margaret Thatcher’s best political friend has been the occasion for cowardly silence by Democrats and extravagant exaggeration, dishonesty and outright dissembling by Republicans.
For those of a serious bent of mind here is an excellent article by Robert Parry on Consortiumnews asking the question: Was Reagan the worst president ever?
Myself, I think Spitting Image always captured the essential Reagan. Here is the most memorable of the many pieces the sadly departed programme screened about the US president. It is unforgettable for the sketch on Reagan auditioning for the part of Rhett Butler in Gone With The Wind, which is about six minutes into the film. Enjoy!
