Dear Friends & Followers,
Ed’s family will be holding a memorial to celebrate Ed’s life and work; the event will be the afternoon of Sunday, November 16th in NYC. All friends and colleagues of Ed’s are welcome to attend and to say a few words – or just enjoy a drink in his memory. Please go to http://www.eventcreate.com/e/ed-moloney, if you would like to join us. RSVP prior to November 7th.
Warmest,
Joan & Ciarán

I guess we all celebrate Ed’s life all the time, if in different ways – he touched on our lives so importantly, even though from a distance I met him in 1966 when we were both starting the Economics 1.01 course at Queen’s University Belfast. As a raw undergraduate, I was enchanted by how much insight he had, even then, into what was really happening in NI politics – but also by his sense of humour and his real interest in and empathy for other students, even for those who were much less well acquainted with the realities underlying the broiling emotions of those times (and in spite of our differing views on the merits of the Incredible String Band!). I can’t be in NYC on 16 November ‘ but I will raise a glass in remembrance. Tony Bovaird, Birmingham (but in those days Ballynahinch).
Would love to be there but won’t forget Ed though

Was always interesting to read Ed comments. Especially his informed commentary on Northern issues (the Troubles). I don’t think there are still many others alive today that could speak with the kind of authority Ed had!
As a Brit now living in Galway, for 47 years, I came over at a time when it was difficult, I was completely ignorant of Irish modern political history. English newspapers didn’t tell me the full story. But I wasn’t long in learning, thanks to people such as Ed Moloney.
My thoughts are for his family.
Derrick.
